CLAT 2010 Results

CLAT 2010 results were far from expected. My son appeared for the exam and he has generally been a  good student scoring above 90% in all important exams. For the entrance exams preparation he chose to go to Heritage Classes, a premier Study Centre in Kochi, Kerala. He was also acclaimed as a good student by the faculty there.Needless to say they had high hopes pinned on him based on his class performances and the results were quite out of the way.

But the results were not just disappointing. They were also thought provoking.

Also, eye catching was the gross discrepancy in the DOB. His DOB is 10 March 93 (10-03-93) and it was printed as 3 Oct 93 (03-10-93), not a small goof up for such an important exam…is it?  This error was present in the original merit list published on the evening of 29 May 2010. It persisted till the morning of May 31, 2010. Obviously a new corrected version was uploaded then. Thankfully, I have saved both pdf versions so have concrete evidence to prove my point.

Made me think…and made me think very hard. Could it be possible  that there are other possibilities of goof ups, as in reversal of actual attained scores too?

I tried calling the NLIU, Bhopal but the number is either constantly engaged or when it rings it doesn’t move forward from the recorded voice asking to feed the extension, as upon feeding the extension number the line simply goes dead or transforms into a persistent and annoying engaged tone. Sending a mail was my last respite, hence I have done that too, with almost nil hope of ever getting an answer.

The CLAT 2010 help desk did answer but they were not aware of any procedures.

All this really makes me think hard but not reach anywhere. Any thoughts from anyone? Kindly contribute maybe together we can solve this dilemma. After all, it is the lives of our kids, which are at stake.

Aggrieved Mother,

WorldSpace India, Left Worlds Full of Void Spaces

WorldSpace India quit all of a sudden in late December last year. The departure was indicated just by an email to thousands of subscribers and a few sporadic news articles. If at all, the electronic media announced this formally on any of the news channels is not confirmed, as many subscribers were ignorant of the fact. Many even went to the trouble of trying to “fix” their WS antenna or the receiver in order to get the music playing. People do keep email ids but many do not check them on daily basis. The email ids that they give to companies (like WS), with whom they do not communicate on a frequent basis are the ones that are checked sometimes weekly, or even fortnightly. End of December being the hottest holiday season, most of the WS subscribers may have been away from their desks and their computers.

Writing – Pleasurable Creative Pursuit … Profession … Consultancy

India is a country where everyone knows how to write. Yes, in the Indian educational system, the emphasis on languages has always been undeniable. Most of us are also fortunate to be a part of the generation that was still taught grammar, the old-fashioned way. These practices are seeing a sea change now, but that’s a topic for another discussion. Here, I am just trying to stress, that due to the inherent emphasis on languages the ability to write is available widely.
